Secret admirers

February is traditionally the month of love with Valentine´s Day being celebrated on 14th.

Many people send Valentine cards anonymously, to a current partner or to someone they would like to start dating.

This seems to have been started in Victorian times, when it was considered bad luck to sign Valentine cards.

This superstition may be linked to one of the legends around Saint Valentine, a priest in Rome during the third century AD who was jailed for marrying young men persecuted by Emperor Claudius. The Emperor believed single men made the best soldiers. Valentine apparently fell in love with the jailer´s daughter and sent her a love letter signed “from your Valentine” on the day of his execution...February 14th.

So, whether you are in a relationship or not, if you would like to add fun and intrigue to Valentine´s Day, send an anonymous card to someone you like and see if they can figure out who their secret admirer is!
